Moreton Motorsport Park - Application MID-0326-1001

This petition is being submitted by Cherie Porter in SUPPORT of the development application is being made by the Corbett Group to build the Moreton Motorsport Park. For all documents relating to the application please see this link - QLD Government - Ministerial Infrastructure Designations (Application Reference Number MID-0326-1001)

We believe this will benefit the community and the wider region. Throughout this time I have watched the Motorsport Industry slowly lose safe, well maintained locations while kids who have grown up with an interest in this industry have lost opportunities to excel in this sport because of this. Take me back to the days of the Friday Night Bikes at the showgrounds because believe me they were great.

As a fast growing area we have very little entertainment venues for the car community and as someone who has a classic car myself aswell as a young son who is showing an interest in these sports I believe this will only be of value to the community.

Not only will this venue provide a space for the motor sport community it will bring much needed growth for small businesses in the surrounding area. There is also the opportunity for local jobs and this venue as well as those small businesses who benefit from the growth this will provide.

Venues such as the Moreton Motorsport Park provide a safe space for the whole community to engage in these activities. However over the years the venues such as Archerfield Raceway, Tivoli Raceway, Coolum Pines MX & North Brisbane Junior Motorcycle Club have been closed down. What a huge shame this is to the community who love this sport. Our region is home to some of the biggest names in this sport and without a safe location nearby there is a real possibility this 100 year old sport may not be here in the future.

I have no doubt the lack of facilities thoughout our entire state for the younger generation that we once had is a contributing factor to the youth crime we see today. Think back to your younger years... where are the youth centres, the pcyc, the local council run community events, pool halls, etc. The list could literally be a mile long. You may say these are outdated activities but they are not they simply closed down rather than being given the support to modernise while still maintaining lost cost or free activities for our community.

The attached signatures to this are in support of the application in it’s current form. We believe this will be of great benefit to the entire region.
